FESTIVAL PROGRAM

Thursday the 18th of July (Opening Night)

This is the first such collaboration between Suhail Khoury & Karlama, where the group will play nice pieces composed by Suhail Khoury over the years  and arranged and distributed by Ahmad Khatib.

(New production)

Friday the 19th of July

Inti-Illimani has been working over 34 years; their music has intoxicated audiences around the globe. Wedded in traditional Latin American roots and
playing on more than 30 wind, string and percussion instruments.

Saturday the 20th of July

A festival favorite, one cannot think of Oud or Violin without thinking of Simon. He returns to this year’s festival in a concert dazzling listeners with his melodic ingenuity leaping from traditional Arabic to Jazz & classical style.

Sunday the 21st of July

Oud Al-Nad is a choir established in Nazareth. Their program of Ziad Al-Rahbani was chosen to be performed at our festival as his songs express the difficult social, economic and political issues facing a simple nation, living their life in constant struggle and turmoil.

Monday the 22nd of July

The theme of this evening’s event is a musical journey with the Oud. Taking us across the borders to Iraq, passing through Syria, and ending the artistic journey back in Palestine.

Tuesday the 23rd of July

Farafina’s authentic music is inspired by dance & traditional songs. Their music interweaves rhythms at
the same time complex & forceful. The most outstanding feat of Farafina is certainly their ability to expand their music without denying their traditional instruments.

Wednesday the 24th of July

Music was at heart at the struggle for freedom, music is at the heart of reconstruction; Vusi was there. His repertoire is a wonderful range of originality, joyous, humorous, lamenting and celebrating.

Thursday the 25th of July

Sheikh Imam, considered one of the major pillars of the Arabic political song which motivated thousands of
workers & intellectuals around the Arab world, will be revered once again during a performance produced by the National Conservatory of Music, consisting of a group of musicians & singers from the NCM & led by Samir Jubran.
